A Light in the Dark Presented by Thodos Dance Chicago Thursday, January 29th at 7:00 PM Co-choreographed by Broadway legend Ann Reinking and Thodos Dance Chicago’s Artistic Director Melissa Thodos, A Light in the Dark tells an intimate family story about Helen Keller, the extraordinary woman who was deaf and blind yet went on to become a world-famous writer, political activist and inspiration to all, and her teacher Anne Sullivan, who led Helen into a world of education, activism and intellectual celebrity. “Breathtakingly athletic,” “powerfully beautiful,” performing “vibrant choreography” are among the many accolades that Thodos Dance Chicago (TDC) has received since its inception. Founded in 1992 by artistic director Melissa Thodos, this ensemble of twelve versatile dance artists performs with a captivating style using a variety of dance forms. The Company’s unique mission of inspiring expression through dance education, dance creation, and dance performance has established Thodos Dance Chicago as an innovative presence in American contemporary dance. Funded in part by the Expeditions program of the New England Foundation for the Arts, made possible with funding from the National Endowment for the Arts, with additional support from the six New England state arts agencies.
